Oxford Research Group (ORG) is proud to partner with Medact on its Health Through Peace Forum, to be held at the University of York on 4-6 September 2017.

Across a series of expert-led panels, workshops and academic sessions, hundreds of participants will discuss ways to achieve health through peace – exploring topics from war and nuclear weapons, to the refugee crisis and climate change.

Several current and past ORG staff will be presenting or facilitating workshops at the conference:

  • Prof Paul Rogers will join the opening plenary panel on Preventing war and violence: the democratic and civic challenges of peacebuilding on Tuesday 5th September.
  • Abigail Watson of the Remote Control Project will join the academic panel on Drone Warfare: Conflicts, Controversies and Trends on Tuesday 5th September.
  • Richard Reeve will join the workshop on National Security or Human Security to discuss the Rethinking Security initiative and the relevance of the Sustainable Security approach on Wednesday 6th September.

Other ORG alumni also presenting at the Forum will include:

  • Dr Nick Richie on the Humanitarian Initiative and the Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty;
  • Paul Ingram on Emerging Non-Nuclear Technologies on the Stability of Nuclear Deterrence Doctrines; and
  • Dr Frank Boulton on several health and security issues.
