SustainableSecurity.org

Launched, September 2009

On the eve of the 8th anniversary of 9-11, Oxford Research Group has launched the new website SustainableSecurity.org

The website is a platform for promoting a better understanding of the real threats to global security in the 21st century and the policies that should be implemented to address those threats at their root cause.   It will continually draw together the best thinking and analysis from as many different sources as possible.

The webiste is organised to highlight four interconnected drivers of global insecurity:

Climate Change

Competition over natural resources

Global militarisation

Poverty and marginalisation

Articles and resources are allocated to one or more of these headings, but the overall emphasis is on the interconnected nature of these threats and the need for comprehensive, multilateral approaches to them.   ORG's Director John Sloboda has contributed the first specially commissioned article to the site, entitled "Swimming upstream to Sustainable Security".
